Inside the episode
From touring bands to LinkedIn
Jack Longman didn't take the usual route into marketing. He left college to tour Europe with a signed band. That taught him plenty about content, audiences and showing up.
Today he runs Social Advantage, a social media and personal branding agency helping founders grow on LinkedIn and beyond.
What consistency really means
LinkedIn is a networking room that never closes. Your personal brand is on show every day, even when you are not posting.
Consistency doesn't mean posting daily. Once a week, every week, counts. Pick what you can keep up and stick to it.
From connection to client
Nobody wants a sales pitch in their inbox. Jack's advice is to keep messages short and chatty, like a WhatsApp message.
In a first message, sell the next conversation, not your service. And remember, no response is a response.
Be a person, not a brand
At the end of the day, the person making a decision is a person. People buy people, and they buy on emotion.
Share personal stories, but link them back to the value you bring. Use tools and tactics to support who you are, not to replace it.
