I spot the thing you're too close to see.

I'm Claire - strategist, straight-talker and the founder of Brand Mixology. I've spent years helping smart people make sense of what they know, what they stand for and why anybody should care.

Most founders do not have an expertise problem. They have a distance problem. When you are living inside the work every day, the most compelling parts can feel too ordinary to mention.

My job is to find those parts, sharpen them and build a brand that sounds like you on your best day - only clearer, braver and impossible to overlook.

My story.

I was never that kid.

I was never the one who knew exactly what they wanted to be. Ask me on any given day and you would probably have got a different answer. That continued through my teens, university and well into adulthood. There simply didn't seem to be that thing.

Living the template life.

That, and plenty of other parts of my life, felt like failing at the life boxes - ticking them in the order someone else had decided. Living the template life, as I put it.

The “failures” were breadcrumbs.

It was only really through the ups and downs of entrepreneurship that I learnt the most unexpected thing. What I considered to be some of my biggest failures and “downfalls” turned out to be the clues and breadcrumbs I needed to follow - to truly build something, a brand and a life that are authentic and unique to me.

Then I became obsessed with the mind.

For years, the mere thought of a needle could make me fall to the floor. Then an incredible experience with hypnotherapy changed my needle phobia - and left me with one question: if my mind was capable of doing that from a mere thought, what else was it capable of?

I went on to train in hypnotherapy, driven by an obsession with how humans behave. Today, I apply that understanding to brand and marketing: how people form associations, how words and images make us feel, what earns trust and what helps someone decide to act.

That understanding now sits inside commercial brand strategy. It helps me get beneath surface-level marketing - finding what is true about the founder and what will matter to the client on the other side.

Now I do it for others.

That experience is what I bring to the founders and experts I work with. My passion is putting the spotlight on others - enabling them to see the stories, skills and powerful ingredients they have that are often too difficult for us to see in ourselves - and making sure they have the right marketing strategy and system in place to get the commercial results they want from the business they have created.

An army of experts.

Along the way I have collected an army of incredible experts - across marketing, PR and all manners of the work. I bring them on board to support the founders and experts I work with, which I love doing, because it also lets me support small businesses and freelancers on their own journeys.

Why I stepped away from corporate.

I left corporate life to be a present mother to Jack, while also building something I could be proud of - and that I hope he can be too. The juggle between the two, with all its mental and logistical practicalities, has been the single biggest challenge of my life. And I would not change it for the world.
