Inside the episode
Marketing doesn't work, apparently
Ben Miller has heard it more times than he can count. One founder even told him on his first day that nobody believed marketing worked.
After over 20 years in B2B marketing, from a law firm to agencies and software companies, Ben made it his mission to show why it so often feels that way.
The rush to the doing
Most marketing fails for the same reason. People rush straight into posts, ads and campaigns without a plan behind them.
It feels busy and productive. But without strategy, even great tactics end up going nowhere.
Your customers are a gold mine
Ben's biggest tip is to talk to your customers. One or two honest conversations can give you nuggets that change your whole message.
Then talk about benefits, not features. People care about what changes for them. And look outside your industry for ideas, or you'll sound like everyone else.
Breathe, then go for it
Once the groundwork is done, keep going. Depending on what you sell, give it 12 to 18 months and watch the early signs: more traffic, more engagement, people saying they see you everywhere.
Ben's advice fits in one line. Breathe, speak to your customers and then go for it.
